Hamrun Spartans celebrated their tenth title in their history with a draw against Hibernians. The best of the match came in the first half in which the newly crowned champions appeared to gain an impressive victory to celebrate in style.

Followed by a massive crowd if supporters wearing red and black, Hamrun started like a house on fire and took the lead on five minutes when Camenzuli’s cross was met by Jonny who put the bal at the back of the net.

Jonny went close again on fifteen minutes after he was well served by Djuranovic, but his shot was deflected by Artiles, and missed the target. Hamrun kept pushing and were in full control of the game with Sacco saving off Djuranovic.

Five minutes from the break and against the run of play Hibernians drew level when Antwi finished off a cross from defender Kurt Shaw.

On the resumption both teams called it a day as they had nothing more to offer. Both sides simply waited for the final whistle with the Spartans starting their much awaited celebrations at the Stadium and at St. Joseph High road in Hamrun.

Malta FA President Bjorn Vassallo presented Hamrun Spartans captain Steve Borg with the BOV Premier League trophy.
