Robert Abela prioritises saving himself above everyone else, PN says

Robert Abela discards everyone as long as he is saved, the Nationalist Party said in a statement on Friday.

It said that when the case that the PN had launched in order to "take back the €400 million that was stolen from the health of the Maltese" continued on Friday, a signed statement was presented in court which read that Robert Abela entered Cabinet in 2020, in what the PN described as a "desperate attempt to try to remove the political responsibility he bears in this theft".

The PN continued that in order to remove this political responsibility, Abela did not hesitate at all to throw out everyone who had served in Joseph Muscat's Cabinet, but the PN noted that Abela had not declared that he had served as a consultant to the cabinet and as consultant to Muscat himself from years prior.

The Opposition said that under the leadership of Robert Abela, Steward Health Care was given an extension for the contract which the Court later declared to be fraudulent, and that Steward received more millions when Abela's duty was to ensure that public funds are spent wisely and that the promised investment is carried out.

Referring to events which took place on Friday morning in court, the PN said that Abela and the government "again used tactics to prolong this case", referring to a delay which has resulted in court being adjourned to May 15th and a judge giving the government six days to present a list of its witnesses.

The Nationalist Party concluded by saying that it is the only one which is working to "truly do justice in the best interest of the health of the Maltese".
