Valletta Alive Photo Competition Launched

Malta Independent Monday, 5 April 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

The subject of the competition is Valletta Alive. A city is not just the buildings: it is the streets and the squares and it is the people who give life and meaning to these spaces. Valletta’s urban spaces are diverse, ranging from the quiet internal courtyards of the auberges and palaces, to the hustle and bustle of the pedestrian shopping streets. Valletta is an amalgam of diverse features and activities, resulting in several curious contrasts.

The competition is open to all members of the public and to tourists visiting the Maltese islands.

Thanks to the sponsor Agfa, very attractive prizes are being offered. The winner will receive Lml00 cash prize and Lm50 worth of photographic goods. Prizes for second and third place will also be awarded.

The closing date for submission of entries is Tuesday 6 July.

Selected prints will be displayed in the Valletta Alive Photograph Exhibition. This exhibition will be one of the events of the Historic Cities Festival, being organised by the Malta Tourism Authority between 7 and 17 October.

The competition and exhibition are being organised under the patronage of the Malta Photographic Society. For more information, email [email protected] or jemaltanet.net.
