Speaking in Kercem, Dr Gonzi said one of the first and most important tasks which will be faced by the MEPs representing Malta is participating in the discussion on the European Union’s 2007-2013 budget, from which Malta will benefit.
He said the candidates being fielded by the Nationalist Party have always been credible and consistent in their policies on the European Union. Some of them, he said, were also part of the team who negotiated Malta’s accession conditions – 77 of them especially for Malta.
Regarding the local council election, Dr Gonzi said the candidates contesting the election on behalf of the Nationalist Party for the 22 councils are the best ones their localities could have. He said the experience of the 10 years since the introduction of local councils had proved the PN right in its insistence of their importance for Malta.
