New Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers

Central Bank of Malta deputy governor David Pullicino has been elected a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in recognition of his sterling work for the institute and the financial services’ profession. This was announced by the Institute of Financial Services-UK chief executive Gavin Shreeve during IFS-Malta’s annual dinner held recently.

Mr Pullicino was appointed deputy governor of the Central Bank of Malta on 1 July 1999, a position he was confirmed in last year. This follows a career with the Central Bank spanning over 30 years.

He joined the bank at its inception when he was an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers after a posting overseas with a British bank.

During his career with the Central Bank of Malta he has been closely involved in most of the bank’s operations and as deputy governor worked on preparing the bank for Malta’s membership of the European Union.

Mr Pullicino is a member of the Central Bank of Malta executive management

committee, the investments management committee and the monetary policy committee. He is also a member of the international relations committee at the European Central Bank and represents the bank on the economic and financial committee of the European Union.
