International Conference on waste conversion and the ability of excess to provide essentials

Malta Independent Wednesday, 26 January 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Malta has been chosen as the host country for the first international conference on waste conversion and the potential of waste and its derivatives to produce some of the most essential commodities needed by people all over the world to enable even a basic level of sustainability.

Despite massive investment in recycling, there remains a vast quantity of none-recyclable material which contains energy which is easily converted into life-essentials – water and energy.

New hope can be brought to regions of the world which are starved of these life-support utilities, dependence on fossil fuel can be reduced, there can be a positive impact on environmental protection and a reduction in global warming.

The conference, scheduled for September 2005, will bring together world experts on ecology, conservation, environmental-protection, energy from waste and the humanitarian agencies.
