The Mellieha Bay Hotel has just inaugurated a bowling green – the first of its kind in Malta.

Bowling Holidays are a relatively new range of holidays, and in order for them to be successful it is important to offer a top quality service and cater for clients’ needs.

The Hotel has chosen Greengauge for its newfive Rink Championship size facility. The surface is needle punched 100% pure polypropelene and is widely recognised throughout the world as the Rolls Royce of the industry.

Greengauge UK is the world’s largest manufacturers and installers of artificial bowling surfaces. 80% of the UK market are now surfaced with Greengauge. Worldwide installations can be found in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Middle East, Singapore, Hong Kong, Spain and Cyprus to name a few.

Bowling is extremely popular in Britain and other parts of the world, and it is part of the Mellieha Bay Hotel’s plan to attract more holidaymakers, by offering Bowling Holidays in favourable climatic conditions, unbeatable setting and a first class playing surface. The hotel will also be promoting and sponsoring an Open competition for foreign participants.

The Bowling Green at the Mellieha Bay Hotel will also be available for locals who will be able to experience the very interesting game of Bowls, which is very similar to our game of Bocci, the difference being the bowls’ shape and the playing surface. Clubs or individuals will be able to organise their own competitions in a game which is new to Malta.
