Seal – The Best 1991 – 2004A Must-have Best Of!

Malta Independent Wednesday, 9 February 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Ever since his first outing as the voice on Adamski’s Killer, Seal has been hailed as something of a revelation. Contrary to most media-hyped acts, Seal deserves every bit of praise he gets, particularly for his consistency in offering music that is both passionate and vital; both soulful and appealing. This collection – a whopping 27 tracks on two discs – represents practically every angle of Seal’s career to date - from the more recent Seal IV all the way back to the hits off his sublime debut CD.

The first disc is the actual hits package – 14 cuts including early hits Crazy, Killer and Future Love Paradise, Prayer For The Dying and Love Divine alongside Seal’s collaboration with Jakatta, his covers of Steve Miller’s Fly Like An Eagle, Burt Bacharach’s Walk On By and Echo & The Bunnymen’s Lips Like Sugar. Crowning the collection is the exquisitely brittle Kiss From A Rose, easily the finest moment in the artist’s career to date. The second (bonus) disc is an acoustic set of pretty much the same tracks, but the less complex set-up reveals a more intimate side to Seal which, apart from underlining the fact that his success is all down to the magic of his voice, also makes this a compulsory inclusion in any record collection!
