The Malta Labour Party yesterday unveiled the billboard that will encapsulate its message for the upcoming local council elections – strengthening the MLP’s success in local leadership.

At a press conference held at the MLP headquarters, party leader Alfred Sant explained the opposition aims to strengthen its success on the local level.

“The goal of our campaign is to remain abreast of the people’s needs,” he said. The billboard portrays all generations, which shows that the MLP is targeting people from all walks of life – from the young to the old. “Our message is to reach all those involved in building Malta’s future,” said Dr Sant.

MLP local councillors aim to focus on the social and environmental needs of the locality, continued the opposition leader, saying that the party councillors elected in the previous election, have, on average, fulfilled 82 per cent of their promises.

A sense of community must be instilled within the people, added Dr Sant. He said that the core of a locality lies within the people and they must be made to feel like they belong. “They must be united and tolerant of diversity,” he said.

The MLP leader concluded by claiming his party will continue to work towards improving the people’s quality of life by working closer to them and keeping up to date with their needs.

The MLP yesterday evening organised what it called a “carcade of protest”. The carcade started at Zajtun and finished at Gzira. It formed part of activities leading to Sunday’s protest demonstration in Floriana.
