PN Welcomes ME ceasefire agreement

Malta Independent Thursday, 10 February 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

The Nationalist Party yesterday expressed its satisfaction at the news of a ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and the Palestinian authority.

In a statement issued by PN international secretary Jason Azzopardi, the PN said that this is an important moment for the relations between the two sides.

It is also a moment of hope that the roadmap drawn up by the Quartet, which includes the European Union, is given a new lease of life in search of real and effective talks towards lasting peace in the Middle East.

This new development brings about more responsibilities for all those involved in the road towards peace. As the door for a new era opens, the PN appealed for the two sides to concede parts of their claims as it is only a compromise that can lead to real peace, one that allows the two sides to live next to each other for their own benefit and that of the whole region.
