Emirates Inaugurates Seychelles office

Malta Independent Saturday, 19 March 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Emirates, the fast-growing Dubai-based international airline, inaugurated its new offices in Seychelles – the fifth Indian Ocean island served by the airline. Emirates also operates flights to Mauritius, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Java (Indonesia). The Seychelles is the airline’s 78th destination and the first to join the Emirates network in 2005.

Leading a delegation of senior Emirates officials, Emirates Chairman HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum arrived in the Seychelles to celebrate the airline’s thrice weekly non-stop services between the islands and Dubai.

The Seychelles comprises more than one hundred granite and coral islands, famed for their stunning white beaches and sparkling blue waters. It is the postcard-perfect tropical archipelago which meets and exceeds the reality check throughout its visitors’ sojourns.

A popular tourist destination, the Seychelles offers a great holiday retreat and is perfect for a romantic honeymoon. With an emphasis on unbridled relaxation, the islands are the ideal place to unwind as well as discover beauty and magic.

The latest statistics indicate that the average length of stay in the Seychelles is in excess of 10 nights – one of the highest among leisure destinations.

Emirates operates an Airbus A330-200 on the new route, offering 54 seats in business class and 183 in economy plus up to 17 tonnes of cargo capacity. Emirates SkyCargo will also support the local tourist industry’s needs by facilitating the import of perishables and high end goods.

Most of Emirates’ 13 Middle Eastern and 22 European routes (including cargo-only destinations) connect to the Seychelles via Dubai in less than three hours, thereby facilitating increased tourism as well as trade flows.

Emirates flies three times weekly between Dubai and Malta – every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday on Airbus A330-200.

Flights from Malta to Dubai fly over Tripoli.

Emirates outbound flights EK705 from the ultra-modern Dubai International Airport to Seychelles depart every Tuesday, Saturday as well as Sunday at 2.10am and arrive in the Seychelles the same morning at 6.45am. Inbound flight EK706 will operate on the same days, taking off from the Seychelles at 8.00am and arriving in Dubai at 12.30pm.

Coinciding with the launch of Emirates flights to Seychelles last January, Emirates Holidays has produced a new colour brochure dedicated exclusively to the perfect island get-away.
