The Public Sector section of the General Workers Union has registered an industrial dispute over a telecamera recording those who punch in and out of work at St Vincent de Paule Residence.
The union hurriedly added it was not against the camera itself but it claimed discrimination against GWU members because some workers are allowed not to punch in and out. The verification of those who enter and leave should be for all employees, the union said, not for a few.
The union has given management up to 6 May to remedy this “unjust and discriminatory situation” failing which it will appeal to the Ombudsman and take other steps.
