Highlighting Malta’s Role as a regional hub

Malta Independent Sunday, 24 April 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

An important business event, the Commonwealth Business Forum 2005, will be taking place in Malta on 22–24 November, in conjunction with the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. The Forum is a major international business meeting that brings together over 500 business leaders from all over the Commonwealth and beyond.

Aimed at global business leaders, particularly from the Commonwealth, Europe and the Mediterranean, the Forum will enable executives to interact directly with Heads of Government and senior ministers, establish new business contacts and relationships, and review business practices and government policies.

The theme of the 2005 Forum is “Window on Business Opportunities: The Commonwealth, Europe and the Mediterranean”; the three-day event will focus on new opportunities for investment partnerships across these regions, identifying areas of the Commonwealth’s comparative advantages in key sectors and highlighting Malta’s role and advantage as a trade and investment hub linking the Commonwealth, Europe and the Mediterranean rim.

Speakers and panellists will include Heads of Government, Ministers of Finance, Trade and Development, chairmen and chief executives of business and industry leaders. Company executives and managers, Commonwealth Heads of Government and ministers, permanent secretaries and other senior officials, trade and investment authority representatives, consultants, researchers and analysts, and representatives of industry associations and chambers of commerce will attend.

For Maltese-based businesses, this represents an unprecedented opportunity to tap into the extensive Commonwealth network, which includes a wide cross-section of developed and emerging markets, and to capitalise on Malta’s strategic position as a bridge between the Commonwealth, Europe and the Mediterranean.

The Forum provides a unique medium for discussion on both policy options and practical actions with a very high-profile group. There will also be significant commercial networking opportunities to identify new business opportunities and build relationships, alliances and joint ventures, and the CBC and its partners will facilitate one-to-one business meetings during the Forum.

The Forum is organised by the Commonwealth Business Council (CBC) in collaboration with the Government of Malta and Malta Enterprise. Louis Farrugia is chairing the Steering Committee, comprising both local and UK-based members.

Malta’s business community is encouraged to participate in this unique event, taking place on 22 – 24 November at Hilton Malta, and specially tailored rates are available for Maltese registered organisations for both delegate attendance and promotional opportunities.
