Topping Up your Go Mobile account when abroad

Malta Independent Sunday, 24 April 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Running short of credit when abroad? Go Mobile offers you different ways of topping up. Obviously, we recommend that you top up before you leave Malta. However, you might still run out of talk-time. These are your options:

Top up using a standard top-up voucher: You may take top-up vouchers with you abroad and top up by calling +35679222123. If you are visiting a country that has a selected network that allows you to make calls, this call can be made directly from your mobile phone. This call is charged as an international roaming call from the country you are visiting to Malta. If your credit balance has been completely used you can dial 1231 (free call). Should you be visiting a country that does not have any single network that allows you to make calls, you can top-up by calling +35679222123 from a fixed telephone line.

Top up via My Go: Visit any Internet café or any outlet providing you with an Internet connection and log on to Go Mobile’s web portal, My Go (www.go.com.mt/mygo). There you can top up using your debit or credit card of both HSBC and BoV. If you top up using this method you will get 10% extra free talk-time (offer valid till 17 May 2005).

Top up via Smart SIM: This top-up service allows you to top up your account by the amount you select. Payment is settled through your credit or debit card. This is done over the air and in real time! Select the RTG Top-up item on your Smart SIM and you can top up from wherever you are. Smart SIM supports standard encryption, and therefore the transaction is done securely over encrypted air channels. Therefore, your bank card details are not disclosed to anyone except the bank. If you top up using this method you will get 10 per cent extra free talk-time (offer valid till 17 May 2005).

Top up via HSBC Mobile Services: Go Mobile card plan users can simply send an SMS to HSBC on 50619005 if they wish to top up their accounts by Lm5 or by sending an SMS to 50619010 to top up by Lm10. HSBC Mobile Services are also available overseas given that a roaming agreement with the foreign mobile operator is in place. Go Mobile prepaid customers need to be registered HSBC Internet Banking Users to benefit from this top-up service. Alternatively, they can visit their nearest HSBC branch. HSBC is offering 10 per cent extra free talk-time when topping up until 17 May 2005.

Checking your Ready to Go account balance while abroad

You can check your account while abroad in the following three ways:

1. You may send a blank SMS to 1232. This SMS is charged at the same rate as any other SMS sent while abroad to Malta. Your account balance will be sent to you via SMS.

2. You may also call +35679222123 from your mobile phone, if you are roaming on a selected network that allows you to make calls. In this case, the call is charged as an international roaming call from the country you are visiting to Malta. Alternatively, you can dial +35679222123 from a fixed telephone line.

3. You can also check your account balance from My Go portal (www.go.com.mt/mygo).

For more information call Go Care on 146 from your Go Mobile, or 79222146 from other networks.
