HSBC To upgrade Electronic Point of Sale System

HSBC Bank Malta plc has announced that a major upgrade to its Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS) system will be undertaken later on this year following the signing of an agreement for the delivery of an upgraded Electronic Point of Sale solution.

This agreement, which was signed between HSBC and SG Solutions Ltd, will enable HSBC to implement a phased replacement of the older EPOS infrastructure and terminals with a more modern solution that will ensure a much faster and enhanced customer and merchant experience.

“We are extremely proud to have been entrusted with the delivery of such an important system,” said SG Solutions Ltd chairman, Anthony Galea.

“Once the project is concluded, HSBC will have an improved Electronic Point of Sale system available to all customers who make use of their credit and debit cards for their purchases.”

The signing ceremony, which was held at HSBC’s head office in Valletta, was attended by Anthony Galea (chairman); Joseph Gasan (director); David Wallbank (CEO); Antoine Galea (sales director) and Tony Saliba (snr mgr technical and development) on behalf of SG Solutions Ltd while Shaun Wallis (CEO); Desmond Don-Paul (head of banking services); Philip Farrugia (deputy head of banking services) and Nicolo’ Baldacchino Orland (card products manager) attended on behalf of HSBC Bank Malta plc.

“HSBC is committed to investing in the latest technology to ensure that our customers can enjoy the best possible service,” said Shaun Wallis, CEO HSBC Bank Malta plc.

“This upgrade, which follows the one recently concluded on our ATM network, will give all our cardholders access to the best equipment through which they can access their funds when effecting purchases,” concluded Mr Wallis.
