Bank of Valletta has renewed its support to Caritas (Malta). The bank will be supporting Caritas by donating Lm 10,000 over the coming five years.

To mark the renewed support from BOV, Mgr Victor Grech, director of Caritas Malta accompanied by Anglu Fenech, administrative secretary, paid a courtesy visit to Tonio Depasquale, chief executive officer at Bank of Valletta.

Mr Depasquale praised Caritas for the valuable work it performs within the Maltese community by means of its specialised programmes and community outreach services. Mr Depasquale said, “Bank of Valletta is aware of its corporate social responsibility and seeks to play an active role in supporting initiatives that aim to improve the social fabric within society. Our renewed commitment to support Caritas underlines the Bank’s resolve in this direction”. He also expressed his support for the renewed collaboration between BOV and Caritas through the provision of an Employee Assistance Programme for BOV employees.

Mgr Victor Grech thanked Bank of Valletta for responding positively to Caritas’ request for support. He outlined how Caritas can provide a service to companies and other organisations by helping to set up an Employee Assistance Programme.

“In the context of the social problems that exist in our society, Caritas Malta seeks to promote the values of life and love and stimulate people towards social responsibility. We operate in different settings including schools, parishes as well as industries and on a national level, offering a professional and competent rehabilitation tailored on long-term experience in the drug rehabilitation, prevention and education fields,” Mgr Grech said.

Caritas Malta is the Catholic Church Secretariat for social and charitable action.

Caritas Malta encounters the reality of social and economic inequalities, and discerns their underlying causes.

It is committed, in solidarity, to stand alongside people in difficulty, sharing its resources, working together with other social partners on programmes which raise public awareness, promoting human development and voicing the rights of socially disadvantaged people.
