Marsaxlokk Beat Pieta in friendly

A new look Marsaxlokk side beat Pieta Hotspurs 1-0 in a friendly match on Saturday.

The winner was scored by Cleaven Frendo.

Making their debut for the southern seasiders were four newcomers among them Portuguese defender Nuno Miguel Dos Santos Gomes. He has signed a one-year contract, after having been reported to have been close to signing for Birkirkara, who brought him over for a trial. He failed to reach an agreement over terms with the Stripes and Marsaxlokk stepped in to secure his services.

The other three players are Floriana goalkeeper Reuben Gauci, who will be taking the place of Ivan Casha, who has moved to Birkirkara, Malta and former Sliema and Msida midfielder Kevin Sammut and former PietĂ  defender/midfielder Gareth Sciberras.
