Pile Of rubble dumped in middle of the road

Malta Independent Wednesday, 17 August 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

There seems to be no limit to the level of ignorance of some people. The Public Cleansing Department was called to clear a pile of rubble which was left in the middle of an arterial road, by a roundabout, on Saturday morning.

The rubble, which was an obvious danger to motorists, was removed a few hours later.

In the last 19 months, more than Lm780,000 has been spent by the Resources and Infrastructure Ministry on this sort of cleaning of valleys, arterial roads and industrial estates. A staggering 24,000 tonnes of illegally dumped material was collected during this time.

Putting things into perspective, the money spent on this cleaning work could have been used on projects such as the one for the Upper Barrakka Gardens.
