Malta Independent Thursday, 26 January 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

The Olympic Solidarity is once again offering Maltese coaches the opportunity for a three-month scholarship to attend the next international coaching course being organised by the Institute of Coaching and Sport Education (ICSE) from 22 March to 14 June, in Budapest, Hungary.

IOC President Jacques Rogge has expressed the importance of the coaches’ training and for the development of sport and has ensured the continuous support of coaches from developing countries, hence the support of Olympic Solidarity. Coaching courses will be available for 11 different sports including: Basketball, Boxing, Fencing, Football, Gymnastics (men), Handball, Table Tennis, Track & Field Athletics, Waterpolo and special courses in Kayak-Canoe and Triathlon.

The objectives of these courses are designed to train and educate coaches from around the World. The programme attempts to promote and develop excellence in coaching. The Course provides coaches with a systematic way to improve their knowledge and skills in the theoretical, technical and practical aspects of coaching.

The Malta Olympic Committee is receiving applications. Selected applications will be submitted to the Olympic Solidarity for a scholarship within the ‘Scholarship for Coaches Programme’. Certain conditions, restrictions apply and there is no guarantee that a scholarship will be awarded.

The MOC will endeavour to assist and support the application process within its capacity. Under the auspices of the MOC a number of such scholarships have been awarded over the years.

For more information and application forms visit the MOC website www.nocmalta.org news item titled ‘International Olympic Academy Activities and Semmelweise’. Or alternatively, one may send an email for more information at [email protected] (titled International Coaching Course, Hungary).
