60 Second Interview - Gabi Sultana

Gabi Sultana started piano lessons at the age of five at Fransina Abela's Piano School in Malta, and after obtaining her ATCL, LLCM and LRSM Diplomas locally, she proceeded to The Hague to further her studies at the Royal Conservatoire, where she was the first Maltese student to be enrolled there five years ago. The winner of various local EPTA Competitions, the Young Musicians' Competition, and the Bice Mizzi Vassallo Competition, Gabi has played at several venues here in Malta and in London, Budapest, Sicily and Holland. At present, she is reading for a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performing, under the guidance of Professor Marcel Baudet. Her field of specialization is Contemporary Music. She has recently recorded a CD of music by Charles Camilleri, which is expected to be released soon. She will be returning to Malta to delight her audience in a piano recital at Sala Isouard on Friday, 3rd March, at 7.30pm.

n What would you like to be doing in 10 years' time?

Travelling around the world, hopefully giving concerts!

n What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Watching sunrise/sunset, surrounded by

spectacular views with no worries on my mind!

n What is your favourite occupation?

Sleeping and partying to good music in good company.

n What is your greatest fear?

At the moment mice, since Holland is full of them.

n What is it that you most value in your friends?

Honesty and a good sense of humour.

n How would you like to die?

In my sleep.

n What is your greatest extravagance?

My phone bill!

n What is your greatest regret?

No regrets so far.

n What is your most treasured possession?

My music and my phone!

n Which talent would you most like to have apart from the ones you already have?

Painting.

n What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

The death of a loved one.

In a warm sunny climate!!

n What is your most marked characteristic?

My outgoing personality and my long bony fingers.

n Who are your heroes/heroines in real life?

My ex piano teacher, Fransina, for always trying to follow her dreams.

Hypocrites, seafood and vegetables!
