Emirates And Oman Air sign code share agreement

Malta Independent Saturday, 25 February 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Maltese travellers now have another interesting and easily accessible destination for business or pleasure: Oman. Following a code share agreement between Emirates, one of the world’s fastest growing airlines and Oman Air, the

national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, Maltese travellers can enjoy better connectivity and an extended range of services between Dubai and Muscat.

The code share agreement boosts the available capacity between Dubai and Muscat to an impressive six flights per day in each direction on all days except Friday – the highest daily frequency to a single point on the Emirates network. On Fridays, five flights will be operated in each direction on the route.

Emirates operates flights from Malta to Dubai with a stopover in Larnaca, Cyprus, four times weekly on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday using its A330-200 aircraft.

Emirates’ customers can now choose to travel on the airline’s two daily flights between Dubai and Muscat, as well as on Oman Air’s four or three daily services, depending on the choice of day. Each carrier will carry its own designator codes and flight numbers on the code share services.

The benefits to business travellers are enormous as they can now arrive into Dubai for a day’s work on any of the three morning flights from Muscat, and return by any of the three late evening flights. Together, Emirates and Oman Air will offer customers more choice, more flexibility and improved scheduling throughout the day.

Emirates’ other code sharing partners include Air India, Air Malta, Air Mauritius, Continental Airlines, Japan Airlines, Korean Airlines, Philippine Airlines, Royal Air Maroc, South African Airways and Thai Airways. Oman Air currently has code sharing agreements with Swiss International Air Lines, Sri Lankan and Gulf Air.
