McDonald’s Malta recently introduced the most significant change to its menu since it started operating locally over 10 years ago. The Salads Plus menu is a new and permanent addition at McDonald’s and marks the next step in the company’s ongoing commitment to offering its customers more choice and variety.

The new menu includes a range of new products, including two Caesar Salads with the choice of either Grilled or Crispy Chicken, a side-salad, a fruit and yoghurt dessert and fresh apples. There are a variety of salad leaves in the salads including Iceberg, Fine Frisee, Escarole, Romaine, Green Batavia, Red Batavia, Lollo Rosso and Radicchio.

Well known local pop/alternative singer Ira Losco has been drafted in to be the primary endorser of this new product line. Ms Losco said she was delighted to be endorsing this product and added that the new Salads Plus range now gives her even more reasons to visit McDonald’s. “Leading a healthy active lifestyle is a priority for me and I always make an effort to work out and eat nutritious food. This makes the new salads and desserts from McDonald’s a great option for me – whether it’s a quick lunch during a busy day or relaxing day out with my friends, I find Salads Plus to be an easy, healthy and convenient choice.”

Mr Melo Hili, managing director for McDonald’s Malta, commented that McDonald’s recognizes that consumers are looking for healthier food choices. “McDonald’s new Salads Plus line not only ensures that our customers have more variety and healthier food options, it’s also a unique and convenient way to eat premium, tasty, fresh vegetables and fruit any time of the day, as a sit down meal or on the go. We feel that this addresses customers’ changing lifestyles and eating habits. We are also especially happy to be working with Ira and are convinced that her vibrant personality and healthy outlook on life blends well with our new product.” He concluded by saying that this move is another important step in the Balanced Lifestyle campaign that McDonald’s has launched both globally and in Malta.

The Salads Plus range is a welcome addition to the McDonald’s menu and provides a wide range of nutritional benefits. The range has a lower energy density than the core products range. It contributes to the WHO target which states that people should eat five portions of fruit and vegetables a day. The products contain a range of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
