The sudden and shocking news of the untimely demise of Antoine Azzopardi, the Union Haddiema Maghqudin representative on the Board of the Occupational Health and Safety Authority and of the National Network of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work, has left us all at the OHSA saddened. It came as a bolt, because Antoine’s passing away at such a young age was difficult to accept for anyone who knew him.

Antoine was appointed a member of the board and of the national network only some months ago. However, he immediately offered very valid and enthusiastic contributions to discussions of both entities. He had health and safety at heart and thoroughly believed in its principles and importance, and actively strived to push it forward on the agenda.

Antoine was a kind and a quiet man with exceptional motivation and strength. Above all, he was a gentleman.

Antoine’s demise will not simply end with a few letters of appreciation, but his name and fond memories of him will certainly remain indelibly within us very close to our hearts.

On behalf of the board, network and all the staff at the OHSA, I would like to take this opportunity to send my sincere and heartfelt condolences to his family.

May he rest in peace.

Roberta Messina

Chairperson

Occupational Health and Safety Authority
