M. Farrugia from Mosta (TMID, 23 October) points out that parents who send their children to Church schools should not benefit from a tax concession similar to that given to parents who send their children to private schools because Church schools are already subsidised by the government.

What he fails to realise is that parents who send their children to Church schools are also paying their taxes, and these too go to subsidise government schools, from which they are getting no benefit.

I do understanding that private school tuition fees are much higher than the donations paid to Church schools, but on the other hand, this is also money that these parents are paying for the education of their children.

As such, they should therefore receive the same tax concession as parents who send their children to private schools.
