Labour deputy leader Charles Mangion and Labour MP Charles Buhagiar should declare their interests and their involvement in commercial entities they have with private contractors, the Nationalist Party said in a statement.
It claimed that during a visit to Dubai, the MLP delegation, led by Dr Mangion, was accompanied by contractors who own companies together with Labour MPs.
The MLP had said that it had gone to Dubai to seek investment and create more employment opportunities. “For four months, the MLP has hidden the fact that contractors who own companies together with Labour MPs were in Dubai on behalf of the MLP,” the PN said.
Contractors who were in Dubai were involved in the building of the MLP headquarters in the early 1990s.
The PN challenged Dr Mangion and Mr Buhagiar to declare their interests and say whether they feel there is a conflict of interest between the “political visit and the involvement of the contractors in Dubai and their shareholding in the contractors’ companies”.
