A man was charged yesterday with threatening an Enemalta official and a police constable when they went to his house to investigate a report that an electricity meter had been

meddled with.

Philip Damato, 40, from Zebbug, who said he was a government employee and worked as a driver, was charged with assaulting and threatening policeman Roger Mifsud and Enemalta official Robert Busuttil on Monday afternoon. He was further charged with breaching the peace, swearing in public and relapsing.

Before magistrate Silvio Meli, Mr Damato pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him. Magistrate Meli upheld his request for bail against a personal guarantee of Lm500.

Police Inspector Jesmond Borg prosecuted while Dr Joe Giglio appeared for the defendant.
