Labour MP Contests transfer of public land

Malta Independent Thursday, 15 March 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

A member of Parliament yesterday filed a judicial letter in court claiming that the permitted development at Pender Place and Fort Cambridge went against the conditions of the issued tender and was therefore in breach of the Disposal of Government Land Act.

Labour MP Joe Brincat said he is contesting the awarding of government land at Pender Place and Fort Cambridge because the height of the development in each project was not in conformity with the issued tender.

The judicial letter was filed against the Justice Minister and the Land Commissioner.

He said that if nothing is done about this, the actual tender would be in breach of the Disposal of Government Land Act and warned that he will be taking further action as is needed to ensure that the conditions of the said tender are observed.
