Best Human resource practices for tourism enterprises

Malta Independent Sunday, 8 April 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

The Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) has, over the past months, launched a series of successful training activities aimed at individuals who are directly or indirectly involved in the tourism industry, as part of a European Social Fund (ESF) Project partly funded by the EU.

One of these activities, to be launched in April, will be targeted at operators working in small to medium tourism enterprises in the accommodation, catering and travel sectors. The objective of this activity is to help tourism operators identify the strengths and weaknesses of the people management practices they employ in their business, hence increasing the competitive edge of small, independent tourism enterprises. Participants will gain insight through their interaction with other operators in the sector with regard to the people management practices they currently employ.

Discussion of good HR practices will take place through a number of sectoral workshops. Each delegate will have the chance to participate in one workshop, which will be geared towards the particular sector they operate in. A certificate of attendance will be awarded to each delegate, following their valued participation and contribution. Bookings are on a first come first served basis.

Workshops will each be of three hours duration, and will be held on the following dates:

• Travel – 17 April from 2 to 5pm

• Catering – 18 April from 2 to 5pm; and 23 April from 9am to noon

• Accommodation – 19 April from 2 to 5pm; and 20 April from 9am to noon

Workshops will be held at MISCO premises and facilitated by MISCO personnel. Those interested are kindly asked to contact M’Louise Xuereb on 22054124 or [email protected].
