Football: Success For Valletta FC Nursery teams in Bulgaria

Valletta FC Nursery has just returned from Bulgaria where it participated in the Dapper Cup in Plovdiv. In this very well organised tournament, Valletta placed first with the Under 16s, second with the Under 10s while the Under 14s placed third.

A total of 55 players forming three teams, coaches and delegates, the Nursery went to Plovdiv to participate in the Dapper Cup in which clubs from Bulgaria, England, Kosovo and Malta participated.

The U/16s squad coached by Mr Twanny Dalli won their section unbeaten, playing five games in four days winning 1-0, 3-2, 3-0, 4-1 and drawing the last game 1-1.

The U/14s squad coached by Mr Anton Cremona placed third. They also played five games over a four-day period.

The U/14s won three games 1-0, 2-0 and 1-0 while losing 3-0 and 3-0 on the last day.

The Under 10s placed second. Coached by Mr Patrick Vidal, the U/10s played six games, winning three: 4-0, 3-0 2-1, Losing two: 2-0, 4-0 and drawing one 3-3

Also forming part of this contingent were Head Coach Frans Grioli, Masseur Anthony Coleiro, Nursery Chairman Renato Zampa, Secretary Adrian Grech and team delegates Christopher Farrugia, Stephen Chircop and Egidio Sammut.

The three squads where surprised with the presence of former Valletta FC coach Chris Monolov who presented the Valletta FC Nursery players with the awards achieved.
