60 Second Interview - Gavin Borg

Malta Independent Sunday, 2 December 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Gavin Borg is the mind behind The Vagabond Project and has just released his first single Shine on all the major radio stations which features Krista Degaetano on vocals. Shine forms part of the album Dirty Music which is available worldwide through Itunes and other major music download sites. He started off way back (more years ago than he can remember) in a heavy metal band as the vocalist and one of the guitarists. Following the break up of the band in the 1990s, Gavin discovered that electronic music was pretty fascinating, and an avenue that was itching to be explored. His music spans from commercial dance tracks to electro to funky house. You may hear and purchase some of The Vagabond Project’s tracks by visiting http://www.myspace.com/thevagabondproject.

How old are you? Star sign and date of birth?

30, Gemini, 27 May.

What would you like to be doing in 10 years’ time?

Enjoying life as much as I do now.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

If everything was perfect, life would be boring and unfullfilling.

What is your favourite occupation?

Fighter jet pilot, without the killing of course.

Significant other?

And better half... yep.

What is your greatest fear?

Evil Ninja Monkeys ehm. No… something bad happening to someone I love.

What is it that you most value in your friends?

Honesty – for example the gift of telling me whether something I’ve produced, cooked or said was good or just a load of rubbish

How would you like to die?

In my sleep after I’ve eaten a massive steak.

What is your greatest extravagance?

Food.

What is your greatest regret?

Renting Ghost Rider... and actually starting to watch it. Apart from that, I’m too young to have regrets. I’ll get back to you in 30 or 40 years’ time on this one.

What is your most treasured possession?

My Korg Z1 synthesizer and on a more spiritual level, I would say my memories.

Which talent would you most like to have apart from the ones you already have?

Reading other people’s mind and the gift of hypnotism. No, wait, actually it’s figure skating haha.

What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

Locked in a room for eternity with nothing in it except for a small television and the only thing showing are re-runs of Everybody Loves Raymond, again and again and again… aaargh

Where would you like to live?

Somewhere far far away from noise.

What is your most marked characteristic?

Determination, ambition and laziness (at the same time).

Who are your heroes/heroines in real life?

Hero worship is unhealthy. We should be our own heroes.

What is it that you most dislike?

People’s hidden agendas.

What is your motto?

Work hard, play way harder.
