Malta Independent Friday, 16 May 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 17 years ago

Yesterday morning the Maltese contingent travelled to Barcelona and then on to Andorra La Vella to face Andorra in the last division 2B fixture for season 2006/8 tomorrow at 4pm.

Malta (ranked 55th) will be looking for a win against Andorra (ranked 62nd) following the recent 16-29 home defeat to Poland. This will be the 2nd occasion that the two sides face each other, the first being just over a year ago in Corradino with Malta winning 31-24 in front of a warm home crowd.

Malta is lying 4th in the standings and needs to win or draw to avoid the drop to division 3A. On the other hand Andorra (5th) will need to beat the Maltese to stay up and send Malta down.

The Maltese contingent is led by MRFU official Nick Gatt, National Coach Damian Neill, Assistant Coach Barry Madocks, Team Manager Sean Doublesin, UK Team Manager Danny Sacco, MRRS Touch Touch Judge Bryan Corlett and the assistance of Pierre Azzopardi.
