Cyprian is half of the duo Tenishia, electronic dance producers who are signed to Armin Van Buuren’s, the world’s No.1 DJ label. Tenishia have produced tracks with singers like Kirsty Hawkshaw, Jan Johnston, Tiff Lacey and many others, which are released on Armada. Their tunes have been on major compilations like Ministry of Sound, Gatecrasher and Armin Van Buuren’s A State of Trance 2007 topping the progressive trance charts all around the globe. They are supported by top names like Armin van Buuren, Paul Van Dyk, Tiesto, Pete Tong and Markus Schulz. It all began when Cyprian was 10 years old and his father took him to the trade fair because he wanted to buy a remote controlled boat. They did not find the boat he wanted but he still wanted to bring something home, so when he saw the flashing lights on a syntheziser he wanted to buy it. He started taking lessons and after a year he bought an acoustic piano and took lessons for that too, while also studying the guitar. When he was 16, he started to frequent club music and was amazed by the sound and melodies which some of the artists produced at that time and wanted to create music like that himself. He got hold of a little computer programme and started to experiment with it for hours on end. At the time he thought he was creating the best tracks in the world, even if they weren’t. At the age of 18 he started to buy equipment for his first studio and after a while he met his partner in crime Joven at a bar. They immediately clicked and started to make music together as Tenishia. It was frustrating because they had no one to teach them how to do anything and so they would spend hours on something, which takes them mere minutes today. But they were a determined duo, and sheer determination pushed them forward. They look back and wonder at the way things change. In those days they never imagined that they would have their tracks played “by the biggest DJ’s on the planet” and that their name would mean something outside of Malta.
