Joanna Magrin represented Malta in the Miss Deaf World beauty contest which was held in Prague between 30 June and 13 July.
In the final, 16 deaf female models represented their countries in four classical disciplines, which are Catwalk, Swimsuit, Free Discipline and Interview in sign language.
The first year of Miss Deaf World took place in Mallorca in 2001.
Since then the competition has been held in Prague and is organised by Czech Model Managements Ltd.
Profile
Strong character and determined, Joanna was born with a hearing impairment which did not inhibit her from succeeding in life both professionally and personally.
She has participated in a popular local drama series in Malta in 2006 while studying for her Diploma in Hair Dressing at the Malta College for Arts, Science and Technology.
She graduated in 2007 and works as a hairstylist in a renowned hair studio.
