In line with the Mepa Reform objectives for greater efficiency and transparency, the authority has given NGOs and local councils free, unlimited access to digital plans for all planning applications through its e-applications systems.
Addressing this point, Mepa chairman Austin Walker commented, “My approach from the very first day has been one of openness and transparency. E-applications is a system that brings about these two key components. We are confident that by providing NGOs and local councils with this free on-line service they will now be in a better position to carry out their duties and responsibilities in a more effective and efficient manner.”
The authority is inviting NGOs that have not received notification of this service to contact the authority on 2290 2014 or e-mail [email protected] and submit their request.
E-applications, which was launched earlier this year, is more than just a technological tool. The system brings together different platforms and technologies into one homogeneous system that allows clients to view application details, submit and pay for applications on-line and send/receive correspondence digitally thus increasing participation, efficiency and transparency.
