‘Good Certificate for Malta’ – PN

Malta Independent Saturday, 10 October 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 16 years ago

The European Commission report to European institutions about the eurozone is a good certificate for Malta’s economic and financial policies, which are leaving a positive impact on the country and leading to the creation of job opportunities and investment, the Nationalist Party said yesterday.

The report shows that the EC recognises that Malta had one of the best fiscal stimulus packages, which undermines every attempt by the Labour opposition to depict the government as having done nothing about the international financial crisis. It also bares the superficiality of Labour leader Joseph Muscat who is repeatedly saying that the crisis has now passed.

While the EC report backs Malta for the economic policy it is following, Dr Muscat is persisting in the wrong and superficial analysis, as he had done when arguing that Malta should not join the eurozone and when he claimed he was in a position to advise Iceland not to join the EU, the PN said.
