The funerals of the six people killed by the fireworks factory explosion last Sunday have been postponed. The collective burial service of Nenu Farrugia, 67, his two sons Noel, 31, and Raymond, 38, his daughter-in-law, Antinette, 27, and son-in-law Paul Micallef, 35, was going to be held tomorrow at 4pm. The funeral of the Farrugia family friend, Jean Pierre Azzopardi, 27 from Xewkija, who also died in the explosion, was going to be held today.
A statement released by the organisers of the funerals said that the funerals had to be postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. The spokesman for the two families could not give further details on the reason for the postponement but sources said that DNA tests still have to be carried out on the bodies after the autopsies proved to be complicated.
The dates for the funerals will be announced later on.
