257 In private homes for elderly are subsidised by government

There are 257 elderly persons in homes for the elderly run by the private sector and who are being subsidized by the government, Health Minister Joe Cassar told Anthony Agius Decelis (PL).

There are:

• 78 at Casa Serena (costing the government €506,000 between January and July)

• 61 at Central Home (€355,000)

• 23 at Casa Arkati (independent residents) (€84,000)

• 10 at Casa Arkati (dependent residents) (€88,000)

• 43 at Villa Messina (independent residents) (€275,000)

• 12 at Villa Messina (dependent residents) (€119,000) and

• 40 at Roseville Home (dependent and semi-dependent) (€3,000 in July only).
