The Pembroke Athleta Under 16 girls travelled to Wales for the first time recently to take part in the prestigious Welsh Super Cup tournament.

The Nursery said it is also proud to have been the first Nursery in Malta which has participated in an Official Girls Football tournament abroad.

A full games programme was prepared to give as much playing time as possible to the girls. Besides participation in the tournament, the visit included friendly matches and a triangular tournament (won by the Pembroke nursery team).

In all, the girls played 10 games, 11-a-side, in the space of five days. They won five matches, drawing two and losing three.

Although the Girls had a full programme of games they also found time to tour the ‘Millennium Stadium’, the famous ‘Cardiff Castle’, were invited and entertained by the City’s Honorary Consul Sir Brooke Boothby at his home ‘Fonmon Castle’ which has a long and cherished history and where the kids together with the Melita and Hamrun Boys, had a wonderful evening in an organised treasure hunt.

On the way back from Cardiff they also found some time to stay for a few hours in London where the group toured the Big Ben area.
