Finnish Company recommended for AFM fast boat contract

During the session held on Tuesday, 14 February, the General Contracts Committee recommended that Boomeranger Boats Oy be awarded the €1.240 million tender for the supply of RIHB (rigid hull inflatable boats) and hand-held thermal imagers.

Galea Curmi Engineering Services Ltd was recommended for the €143,000 Lot 2 in the tender.

The Director General (Contracts) has agreed with these recommendations.

According to its website, Boomeranger Boats was founded in 1991 and specialises in rigid inflatable boats of the highest quality. Described as being designed and built for professionals by professionals, the boats are developed in Finland for use in the harshest marine environments and meet the demanding requirements of military and defence clients.

The company does not serve leisure clients or undefined operators. Its customers include naval and Special Forces, border guards, search and rescue organisations, police forces, fire departments and other similar bodies.

The boats are built according to a strict quality system developed for Boomeranger Boats, and design and manufacturing is done in-house. The company owns the design of all its boats and dimensioning of the hulls is carried out according to operational requirements and engine selection. Craftsmanship, parts and materials of only the very best quality are used and in order to guarantee strength, safety and a long life, no wood or plywood is used in the boats’ construction.
