Bank of Valletta is to host a series of insightful Business Networking Events at Harrods – the world famous luxury store in Knightsbridge – as part of the Maltese promotional campaign in London this month, organised by the Malta High Commission.

“The business networking events are an opportunity for BOV to continue to promote Malta as a financial service centre and reinforce our position as the leading financial services provider in Malta,” said Charles Borg, Chief Executive Officer at Bank of Valletta. “We are delighted to support this campaign that was made possible thanks to the initiative of the Maltese High Commissioner in London Joseph Zammit Tabona.

“Being one of its key sponsors, and also taking an active role in the campaign, commensurate with our positioning as the largest Maltese financial services group, we are delighted to be organising this series of business networking events through which we will promote Malta as a competitive, well regulated and reputable destination for the domiciliation of a wide range of operations related to financial services,” said Mr Borg.

Tuesday 6th March

The first business network event – “Think Malta – Trust Malta – Personal estate planning and corporate trusts in Malta”, will be addressed by Dr Andrew Chetcuti Ganado and Mark Agius from BOV. The two speakers will discuss personal estate planning and corporate trusts in Malta as well as BOV’s value proposition as a ‘one stop shop’ trustee in Malta. The event will also be addressed by Derek Westpfe, Director of Strategic Partnership at Barclays.

The second event will focus on structuring insurance and risk management solutions in Malta. Aldo Scardino from BOV will talk about Malta’s position as an emerging financial services centre and an ideal jurisdiction for international business. He will also highlight BOV Group’s role as the financial services partner of choice when doing business from Malta. Dr Matthew Bianchi, partner at Ganado & Associates, will also speak at this meeting to give an overview of Malta’s Insurance Law and Regulation while guiding the audience through the opportunities available to insurers and risk managers in an integrated market.

Monday, 12th March

“Malta – A European fund domicile gaining strong growth traction”, the third business networking event in this series, will see Kenneth Farrugia, Chief Officer of BOV’s Funds Business delivering a presentation on Malta’s paradigm shift in the funds industry. Dr André Zerafa from Ganado & Associates will also explain the legal framework regulating Investment funds in Malta.

Wednesday, 14th March

The fourth and final event will focus on structuring M&A transactions in Malta. Aldo Scardino from BOV will speak about Malta’s role as an emerging financial services centre and an ideal business jurisdiction to structure international business. Dr Louis Degabriele from Camilleri Preziosi Advocates will illustrate the legal framework needed to set up corporate structures in Malta with the objective of acquiring, managing and disposing of assets. Finally, Dr Degabriele will also present a case study with examples of transactions structured in Malta.

The BOV Business Networking Events form part of the “This is Malta” campaign at Harrods in London during March.
