Mdina and Xghajra gained a point each from their encounter.
Both goals were scored in the first 40 minutes of play, with both sides also hitting the posts. They have now gone up to a total of 39 and 36 points respectively, where Mdina have failed to keep the pace with Mgarr who now have 43 points in all.
Xghajra opened the scoring 15 minutes into the match, when after a good run, Manaf crossed towards Aaron Pendry who chipped the ball past goalkeeper Aquilina from a short distance. They were close to doubling their lead on 37 minutes, when after receiving from Axisa, Polenec’s long distance effort hit the crossbar.
Mdina equalised a minute later from a direct freekick from outside the area by Nicholas Micallef who took Xghajra’s defence by surprise with a splendid shot.
Mdina missed a sitter six minutes from time, when following a good combination between Southward and Francalanza, the latter’s effort on target hit the upright.
