GRTU Wants more say for MCESD

Malta Independent Wednesday, 25 April 2012, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

The small business chamber, the GRTU, says the government should refer to the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development, for its opinion, all draft legislation, green papers and other proposals which have an economic and social nature.

The proposal is one of several the GRTU council drew up in connection with the restructuring of the MCESD. Another proposal is that all decisions taken at council level are to be by consensus.

MCESD members should also include a member representing farmers’ and fishermen’s organisations, apart from another member who would represent professional organisations and chambers of professionals, the GRTU said.
