Mdina kept their promotion hopes alive when they managed to beat Swieqi 2-1. This win kept Mdina in fifth place while Swieqi stayed comfortably in the middle of the table.
Mdina opened the score on the 25th minute when Robert Southward beat veteran George Edwards with a low shot to put his side in front at the interval.
But after Mdina missed some opportunities, Swieqi equalised when on the 74th minute Simon Sammut scored with a good free-kick that gave Barbara no chance.
But when the match was heading to a draw, Mdina scored the winning goal thanks to a penalty from captain Nicholas Micallef who gave his side three precious points.

Ghaxaq kept their promotion hopes alive as they beat Sirens 4-1 in a convincing win. Their hero was striker Bjorn Dalli who scored four goals for Darren Abdilla’s team to record their second consecutive victory. For Sirens this was their second consecutive defeat and their fourth result without a win.
The turning point in this match came on the 37th minute when Bjorn Dalli came on for Mark Ellul and after one minute on the pitch, he opened the score. Dalli scored the second goal on the 49th minute and added another goal on the 63rd minute to put his side in the driving seat.
Bjorn Dalli scored the fourth personal goal for him and Ghaxaq on the 72nd minute. George Falzon scored a consolation goal for Sirens on the 83rd minute from a penalty.
