New Trading platform for stock exchange

Malta Independent Tuesday, 29 May 2012, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

The Malta Stock Exchange will soon be switching to the XETRA, Deutsche Börse Group’s fully electronic trading platform, a step that is scheduled for 11 June, the exchange said.

The trading platform is in use at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, Vienna Stock Exchange, Irish Stock Exchange, Ljubljana Stock Exchange, Eurex Derivatives AG and Bulgaria Stock Exchange, among others and is regularly accessed by more than 250 European banks and brokerage firms, including some 4,500 traders, from 18 countries within as well as outside Europe. This new access to a network of exchanges will create a number of opportunities for members and traders of these stock exchanges to connect to the Malta Stock Exchange.

Robert Vella Baldacchino, deputy general manager, and Cliff Pace, manager Product and Business Development, recently presented the members of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and fund / asset managers with an overview of Malta, its economy and financial services sector, the exchange’s 20-year track record and the business opportunities that the XETRA network will facilitate.
