The Fgura local council is holding a mural painting event today from 7.30am to 1pm. in Council of Europe Square. This is the introductory phase of a project aimed at covering unsightly boundary walls with imagery, turning them into street works of art.

The concept of this event is to bring together a number of leading artists and talented students in a collaborative work with the intention of promoting the visual arts as well as presenting to the public an art scheme in the centre of Fgura.

Artists Raymond Pitre, Joseph Mallia, Rupert Cefai, Twanny Darmanin, Raymond Darmanin, Alex Dalli, Joseph Barbara and Anthony DeGiovanni have subscribed to the project together with a number of art students.

The project will consist of the juxtaposition of an individual work by each participant depicting a life-size person of choice to form a collective work depicting diversity in unity in the community of Fgura.

The bus-shelter in situ will form a physical part of the work. The event is a performance of spontaneous painting to which the general public is invited to assist. The area will be car free.
