Shooting: Paul Vella Wins Aquilina Skeet Shield

Paul Vella had a splendid comeback in Skeet competitions, when he won the Aquilina Skeet Shield yesterday.

This competition was held in the MSSF (Malta Shooting Sport Federation) shooting ranges in Bidnija.

Vella came first in the first phase, hitting a total of 49 clays out of a maximum of 50.

He hit 24 out of 25 in the first round, and a straight 25 in the second round.

In the final barrage, Vella’s performance took a slight drop, when he hit only 22 out of a maximum of 25, but still retained first place with an overall total of 71 clays out of 75.

Paul Vella won the competition with a lead of three clays over second-placed Bozidhar Dimitrov, who had a total of 68 hits.

Dimitrov hit 45 clays in the first barrage, and 23 in the final barrage.

Third place was obtained by Noel Scicluna, who hit a total of 65 clays, 42 in the first phase and 23 in the final barrage.

The other placings were obtained by Joe Muscat with a total of 63 clays, Jason Agius with a total of 60 hits, and finally Jason Sciberras with a total of 56 clays.
