Prince Edward and Countess of Wessex in Malta next week

Their Royal Highnesses The Earl and Countess of Wessex will visit Malta from 19 to 25 November . Prince Edward, as Chairman of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Council will be here to attend the 11th International Award Forum. He and The Countess will undertake a number of official engagements before the Forum begins.

His Royal Highness was last in Malta in 2011, a British High Commission statement said.

Their visit will start with a reception on board HMS Illustrious, berthed in Grand Harbour, which will then be followed by dinner at the Residence of the British High Commissioner Rob Luke

On 20 November, Prince Edward and The Countess of Wessex will visit the British High Commission in Ta’ Xbiex.

The Countess of Wessex is particularly involved with charities working with children and people with disabilities and communication problems. In the light of this, TRH will visit the Playmobil factory in Hal Far to meet young adults who have graduated from the Inspire Foundation for Inclusion Adult Training and Employment Centre.

They will also pay a visit to the Helen Keller Resource Centre for Children with Special Needs in Qrendi.

Following this The Royal Couple will visit the Royal Fleet Auxiliary ship Mounts Bay for a working lunch.

The Countess of Wessex, as Grand President of St John Ambulance in the Priory of England and the Islands, will present two ambulances donated by the East Midlands Ambulance Service in the UK and brought to Malta by the Royal Navy and Royal Fleet Auxiliary, to St John Ambulance Malta at Grand Harbour.
