Malta Independent Tuesday, 18 December 2012, 10:07 Last update: about 11 years ago

The annual Ferramoda fashion event organised by Dr Juliana Scerri Ferrante that raises money for worthy causes was held at the beautiful Radisson Blu (SAS) Resort ballroom in St Julian’s recently.

The red carpet event, the seventh one so far, this year raised money for children’s Christmas parties at orphanages as well as for their educational and future needs.

On the night, Dr Scerri Ferrante told FIRST that this aspect of supporting children’s homes is very close to her heart. This year the emphasis was on genuine products, quality and craftsmanship, with ‘Made in Italy’ and ‘Made in Malta’ handmade collections being exclusively displayed. Dr Scerri Ferrante said this fact expresses recognition of the culture and values of quality which today we often don’t have time to appreciate.

The event opened with little Amy singing Walking on Sunshine directed by Ruth Sammut Casingena and accompanied by dancers. The entertainment was directed by Dr Francesca Sansone.

The first show featured Anbaste’s collection of bags, scarves and belts designed by an Italo-Maltese partnership based in Rome, Stephania and Barbara. This collection had particular appeal for the younger generation. This was followed by Rodo (Portomaso) with their outstanding collection of furs and bags and the latest Moschino collection. Then came the Ferramoda collection, Dr Scerri Ferrante’s own annual collection, followed by Lara Spiteri’s handmade collection, the sale of which went to the Puttinu Cares Foundation. The fashion displays were concluded by Lucia Giappino, who presented her handmade bridal collection, made in Malta and Italy.

The event’s main sponsors were Guerlain Make-up, who were present promoting the Fall and Christmas look 2012 and the new Abeille Royale skincare intense range; Land Rover, who promoted their Range Rover Evoque; Vascas, who promoted Louise Erard and Bremont watches, high end diamonds and pearls from Alfaberge; and Rodo, promoting their bags, luggage and fur coat collections.
