An EasyJet plane made a safe return to Malta after suffering an engine failure just a few minutes after takeoff.
The twin-engine Airbus A320 was heading for Gatwick Airport when its left engine failed, around six minutes into its flight.
As a result, it requested an emergency landing, and the Malta International Airport deployed its fire department to prepare for any eventuality.
Thankfully, an airport spokesman confirmed, the aircraft landed without any incident.
The aircraft was inspected briefly on site before it taxied away, allowing for the runway to be reopened.
It is now up to EasyJet to determine whether the plane can be repaired and prepared for takeoff in short order, or whether alternative arrangements will need to be made for its passengers.
