 - Thursday, 18 April 2013, 15:59

Tumas Group director Raymond Fenech has been appointed chairman of Air Malta, succeeding Louis Farrugia, who in January announced he would not be continuing in the position.

Mr Fenech has been involved in the hospitaltiy industry for years, and in 1999 was appointed executive director of the Tumas Group property division, which he was entrusted to reorganise. He is a director in all the group companies and under the previous government was chairman of the Foundation for Tomorrow’s Schools and of the Malta Tourism Authority.

The new Air Malta board, the government said yesterday, is made up of people from the business, tourism and aviation sectors.

Apart from chairman Fenech, the board’s members are Joseph A Gasan, Norman Spiteri, Eric P. Fenech Pace, Karen Bugeja, Joseph Borg, Chris Grech, and George Micallef.

Evarist Bartolo had informed us just a few days ago that the Foundation for Tomorrow School had ran out of money and is not ina position to build more schools. Now we hear that it's ex chairman has been appointed as Air Malta chairman. The mind boggles.
